Chickenpox Saga- Part 2

It is the 5th of December and Chickenpox is still having a party at Billy’s school, especially within his class.

I will give you a little insight to the last couple of weeks antics.

On the 15th I emailed the local hospital and Billy’s centre of excellence for guidance on the current situation.

Advice given…………………………..

If there are no spots showing to start oral Aciclovir on day 7 after direct contact, but if spots show to contact the hospital for an admission for IV Aciclovir for 5 days or more.

Next call the Doctors to confirm prescription had been received from the hospital, all confirmed and will be ready to collect this afternoon.

On Thursday 16th school rang to discuss if it would be more fitting to keep Billy off school for his own protection, as the pox was multiplying by the minute.

It was agreed that Billy would return on Tuesday 21st due to there being an inset day on the Monday the 20th and Billy having a hospital appointment today.

Realistically this week has been a right off for Billy since Monday the 13th, as Billy woke up very tired and lethargic so did not make it in, Tuesday was a success, then Wednesday Billy got sent home from school after an hour due to his head hurting and tiredness.

I believe the teacher described him as being asleep on the desk with his eyes open.

It’s hard to explain, but sometimes, Billy is just ill or massively fatigued, but doesn’t really have any major symptoms.

On the Friday the 17th a friend text to share that there were only 11 children out of 25 in Billy’s class.

Over the coming week there were a few more, one being Billy’s best friend.

So, more very close contact endured.

Billy did return on the 21st and continues to be spot free, even that his antibody test shows he has limited immunity to the virus at 53.

Immunity is between 100-150, so Billy is a little short at this point.

So, back to putting the blinkers on for now and trying to forget that this hidden monster is lingering around.

Remember if you need reassurance or a plan to work to, don’t hide, communicate this to someone that can help.

Sometimes there are simple answers to stop the worry monsters within you.

Like they say 2 heads are better than 1.

Remember you may not feel strong but you are.
